Jane Schwartz is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN), Certified LEAP Therapist (CLT), and a nutrition and health writer. After earning her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from Cornell, she completed a graduate nutrition internship at the Oregon Health Sciences University. Post-graduation, she became the outpatient dietitian at two area hospitals and opened and maintained a successful private practice in Westfield, New Jersey, where she counseled individuals and families, ran a weight management program, and lectured in the community.
After moving to Princeton, she took a hiatus from counseling to become a senior writer and nutritionist for myOptumHealth, a division of United Healthcare. While there she provided trusted nutrition expertise for the site, including weekly article contributions, a popular “Ask the Nutritionist” column, online health coaching, and a series of intensive meal plans and cookbooks ranging from heart healthy and diabetes friendly to vegetarian, Latino and other ethnic food.
Jane's area of expertise ranges from chronic disease to wellness, including diabetes, heart disease, food sensitivities, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer and weight management for adults and children. She is an active member of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ADN), Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE), and Dietitians in Functional Medicine (DIFM).
